I have been receiving emails from Flourish and Thrive and have done just what Robin and Tracy say not to..... procrastinate! Why? Because it is easier to not do anything than it is to write a blog post or record a video or take an Instagram photo. Really Kim, how the heck can you say that and let alone do nothing but sit in your studio and wish and dream. I can hear Robin and Tracy in the background "Kim get off your lazy girl chair and make yourself proud!" Ok, ok , I will do it!
Flourish & Thrive Academy is offering a scholarship for their upcoming "Laying the Foundation" Course and I want to be considered for this contest so I am putting myself out there and taking on the write a blog post entry.
My jewelry business is hidden right now. I have not given it the chance to flourish at all. I have designs and materials but I have no direction. I have read "all" books and taken "all" the free online webinars, seminars and ecourses but have not implemented a thing. I am just treading water in my business and can not seem to get it off to a start. I need to go back to the beginning and start over. My Mom always said "If you have a good foundation you can succeed at anything". "All" that has not worked because in truth I need to "lay the foundation" to succeed.
I am being held back by myself! I do not have the confidence to put myself or my work out there and I keep "finding" other things to do to keep me in that comfort zone, did I just see another free ecourse? I need a jolt to get me back in the studio and finishing the designs that are trapped in my head and on the pages of the sketchbook. I believe that jolt is being part of Flourish & Thrive's Laying the Foundation Course for 2015. After listening to Robin and Tracy speak I can feel it.
I do see my business succeeding and I am not afraid to say I need help from people that have walked this path before. I would like to see my work on the web, in galleries and boutiques and, dare I say it out loud, catalogs. I want to be sought after and to be known for more than just an artist. My dream is to one day have a flourishing business that supports me and the lifestyle I dream of having, instead of me supporting my business. I would love to teach nationally and internationally and I know I am a long way from doing that sitting in my studio today.
I feel that "Laying the Foundation" will teach me the tools I need to move forward and give me the confidence I desire to believe in myself, while building on what I have learned to this point. I do want to flourish and thrive and to give back in the future.
