How Long to Learn

This is a good question, but not so clearn cut to answer.

By taking a Beginner’s Stained Glass Class with me, you lwill learn the very absics but learning actually continues on for your life time.

After you finish your 7 to 10 week Beginner’s Class you keep learning and adding to your knowledge base.

Like:
1) how much you can push your cutting skills
2) decorative soldering
3) taking a piece apart after a piece of glass cracks during soldering (from overheating)
4) how different types of glass cut- not all glass is created equal!
And the list goes on.

As your experience grows you will be able to experiement more and your confidence will grow.

You will need to remember that glass is a bunch of molecules and it may not always cut the same every time. It may, but don’t let your guard down.

If you act scared the glass might react accordingly, I can hear you saying “What the heck Kim?” If you are tentative your cutting pressure will change and the score will not be consistent.

I guess it really boils down to how willing you are to learn and listen. When I started out in the summer of 1982 I did my first Craft Market in November of 1982 and work sold. As the months passed I learned a lot by doing and experoimenting. I am still learning in 2026! It is a lif long journey- enjoy the ride!
