A wonderful new opportunity for me!

I received an email from the North Carolina Museum of Art in mid September asking if I would like to participate in their AIM Program (Artist Innovation Mentorship). I met with the AIM Management Team and now will be teaching stained glass to Springfield Middle Schoolers in their After School Art Program. This is considered an Artist Residency for me. So far we have 13 signed up and we start Monday October 19!

Ove the past week I have been planning and replanning. I would like the students to design their own pieces but am worried about time constraints. We meet 12 times for 90 minutes. It will be hard to stop and start up again. So I am roughing out the sessions to prep for anything. I know it will all fall into place when it needs to.

When I taught at the Loch Lomond Elementary School in Manassas for their Art School Art Camp , the students each did their own piece and then contributed a piece of glass they cut each to a large window for the office and I had a map beside it so they could show off their handiwork. Hopefully we can end with something big like this.

I am so excited for this opportunity and the chance to share stained glass with these wonderful young people! Thank you NCMA AIM for reaching out to me.
