Snow tonight?

3/19/2016

Oh my gosh, they are saying snow between 2 and 3 am!! If anything it will be a dusting on the grass according to the Weather Men. I can not believe it. Right now it is 36 out and raining. Would be nice to see snow again but all the plants are poking up and think it is spring time.

I have been super busy teaching stained glass, kumihimo, jewelry basics, the next level, getting ready for shows and putting a jury package together. Fingers crossed. Having computer problems on top of that has added to the stress, I need to learn to let it go or else go out and get a new computer! Not worth it.

I have a repair on my workbench and the Loch Lomond panel is calling my name also. Also putting in applications for fairs for the fall. Hard to believe it is time to do that again.

This coming week is Spring Art Camp at the Workhouse Arts Center and I am teaching jewelry making. Finished shopping for supplies today and will kit tomorrow. Should be fun 15-20 kids 5 to 10 years old.

So what has Spring brought to your workbench and life?

Remember keep art in your heart and put your heart into your art.

March Madness? Or just overly busy?

Five days in March and we have seen a high of 65 degrees and low of 27 degrees. Crazy weather. We have 70% chance of snow tonight! If it happens it will be a waste for the kids as tomorrow is not a school day. I love snow days, getting to stay home and do something cool makes me happy.

I just finished up Art Club at Loch Lomond Elementary School in Manassas. There were two sessions, fall with 5th graders and February session with 4th graders. Day 1 was touching on the history, tools, types of glass and learning how to cut glass. Day 2 was grinding and copper foiling. Day 3 was soldering and clean up. Day 4 was cutting a piece that will be included in the panel that will hang in the school office. Below are the 4th grade pieces. Go Scotties!
What's up for the next few weeks? A box class with a frame on it for cards, postcards and other keepsakes. Prepping pieces and photos for jury. Pieces for a show in April, due mid March. Spring Break Jewelry Camp at the Workhouse Arts Center. Finishing up stained glass classes at the Workhouse Arts Center and Fairfax Parks & Rec. Jewelry Basics class at The Center for the Arts. I am getting tired just writing this list! But in reality I love teaching and sharing my art with others.
What are some of your plans for March? What projects are on your workbench? Leave a comment with a photo to share what you are up to.

Wishing you an artful month.
