My Favorite Apps for Small Business and Artists

Disclaimer: decide on your own apps to use, I am just sharing the ones I use now and have found helpful. Let me know if you know of any other apps that are good for small business and artists. Thank you.

Notion- a workspace  with wiki, notes, docs, tasks , projects, tasks and calendar. It is similar but different from Trello. I moved to Notion from Trello and you can migrate your cards. I like Notion because I can keep everything there- To Do List, Calendar, Business Binder with all my important information and systems. It is on my computer, iPad and iPhone so it goes everywhere with me.

Canva- a great app for creating graphics for social media and marketing. I use the free version but understand the paid it over the top. You probably have seen the ones I created in Canva on FB and IG if you follow me.

MailChimp- get email management that allows you to email your list with out being called out for spam. I have used it for years. You can segment your list and set up automated emails and look at your analytics. There are lots out there but MailChimp does what I need so I am sticking with it.

QuickBooks- not free but wow what a game changer for me. I had been using a ledger up until Fall of 2022. I can hear you saying "what?" no I am not a dinosaur but close to it. It is a great bookkeeping, mileage tracker and payroll system. Best choice I made last year.

Square- has fees but worth it. I used to use the little Square Reader on my iPhone but bellied up and got a Square POS system. Again a great improvement for my business. You can pull reports for taxes and everything is there.

Google Drive- a great personal cloud storage. You can access it for any device and you can share docs.

Gmail- what did we do before Gmail? Just so easy and I love to have the folders so I research back and find that email I wrote with the important details that I do not want to reinvent.

Google Calendar- great way to to keep organized and it is shareable.

Valise- just found this artwork inventory system you can build on Airtable. I had used Artwork Archives- too big and had too many bells and whistles for what I needed plus it's cost was out of my budget at them time.

Hope this was helpful. I know there are tons of apps available and it is a huge rabbit hole. Be careful you do not fall too far down the hole.
